Partial discharges (PD), as defined in IEC60270, are dielectric discharges in a partial area of a solid or liquid electrical insulation system under high voltage stress. Partial discharges of a transformer deteriorate its insulation and can lead to transformer failure.

Torytrans has a fully equipped laboratory that allows us to detect partial discharges that are still in their early stages or to determine acoustically the location of their origin and finally to draw conclusions regarding the state of the insulation.

Our Quality Department records all measurements and provides our customers with the necessary reports as a guarantee of success. These tests are special and will only be carried out at the express request of the client or under the transformer's own specifications.
